U8 Wasps vs Duffield Dynamos Athletic

The game started with a fiercely fought but even first half, contested mainly in midfield with few clear-cut chances thanks to some strong midfield play from Milo Bentham and Bobby Morritt. When Duffield did get through they were ushered away from goal and left to shoot from distance as a result of great positional play at the back from Jamie Mannion and Kieran Harrison. The battle continued until the last couple of minutes of the first half when the Aztecs conceded a late penalty. Jacob Johnson in goal made a fantastic save but the rebound fell kindly for the taker and was neatly tucked away to give Duffield the lead. A second followed straight after the restart leaving Aztecs with a lot to do in the second half. Duffield started the second half strongest and added another quick brace. Aztecs composed themselves and started to add some pressure of their own with Daniel Cowley and Kieran Harrison, now moved into an attacking role and they soon had some reward with a sweet left footer into the bottom corner from the edge of the area by Kieran Harrison. This gave Aztecs the confidence they had been looking for and the pressure was mounting with a number of corners and free kicks around the Duffield area but the defence held strong. This was a very good warm up for the new season against higher league opposition. Well done everyone.
