Hornets vs Field Lane Panthers

No jet lag from laser tag!!!

Match report by R.Robinson

The game started with the Panthers attacking straight away putting the Hornets defence under pressure. The boys held their positions well to block, tackle and intercept any of Panthers advances. The lads then started to play, working from the back. Hayden, Ben and Archie linking up well. With a composed back line and some great passing it wasn’t before Ben had the ball in the back of the net. Feisty Field Lane, weren’t happy and were throwing themselves literally at the Hornets. Sidney made superb save at a crucial time to keep us in the lead, Ben and Jimmy also covering Sidney well. It looked like the Hornets might grab a another before half time when Archie turned his man on a sixpence to put young Joe through but unfortunately to no avail.

Hornets started the second half with more confidence. Having to shrug off the Panthers challenges they didn’t let it bother them and did what they were there to do, play football! A very composed Ben and Joseph were solid at the back, Sidney absolutely bossing his area. The Panthers weren’t getting in! Then a finally a free kick for the Hornets in a threatening area saw Ben strike well only to ricochet of the wall, young Joe was right there Boom! Goal.

Another free kick on the edge of the box saw Hayden smash it into the top left corner. Panthers were rattled and they weren’t the team that started the game. As the rain came down with a few minutes left the Hornets had a corner, beautifully put into the danger area young Joe was in the right place at the right time to slot in his second. It finished at the whistle. While every player deserved a big pat on the back today, a mention for Archie who had a stormer and definitely looked to be back to his best. Player of the match was young Joe in only his second game, scoring goals and linking up well with his teammates a very complete performance it was! I must say it was one of the best if not the best performances I’ve seen from the Hornets against a very tough physical Panthers team and shows the dedication of the boys after a fantastic team outing at the wild park Derbyshire lazer tag.

We go again!
