MATCH REPORT
ASHBOURNE AZTECS LIONS v RIVERSIDE JUNIORS ATHLETIC
It was a glorious day to greet the team for our final game of the season and the first time in a while that I’ve been able to play the while squad. The opponents today were evenly matched to us and always give us a tough match.
We started well and ACKERS was causing all sorts of problems for Riverside dribbling down the right at will but the final ball wouldn’t quite drop to our players, KING came close on a couple of occasions to connecting. SPENCER was a busy keeper today and made some superb saves in the first and was unlucky when he tipped one onto the bar but it came back down hit him and went in. ACKERS scored a fantastic goal smashing into the top corner which was hi second and WOOD drove at the opposition well and managed to score as well.
We managed to play two defensive units today. COSTABILE and PLANT were intercepting balls through and dribbling out to start counter attacks well. TARRY and JENNINGS were reading the game well and stopping the opposition getting much joy and never gave up showing fantastic determination.
The Boys kept going in the heat and after fantastic interplay with KING , WOOD was felled in the box. The keeper made a great save from WOOD but he kept his composure scoring from the rebound. More great play from the team left KING on hand to strike first time in off the post. Fantastic effort in the heat and a great result well done Lions
