Great News! The new Derby Junior football League starts on weekend 8/9th of September.

We know this as a club because Viv Burton has been our Club Secretary for the DJFL. Viv attends monthly meetings regarding what is going on with the league throughout the season and within this role Viv will register new teams, managers and players and remove old ones. We will not be allowed to play within this DJFL if we don’t have a point of contact and a person attending the meetings to help arrange and keep the DJFL up to date to what Ashbourne Aztecs are doing. This job covers the age groups from U7’s up to U12’s.

Viv announced through a heartfelt letter to the Ashbourne Aztecs at the AGM meeting last Monday she will be stepping down from the role, which she has been carrying out for many years. The position will be vacant from the end of March, so as a club we are looking for someone or a few people who can share the role. We are asking now so this will give the person or persons enough time to learn the role and be confident to take it over at the end of March when the club will start to register teams again. This position does not need to be filled specifically by a manager, it is open to parents as well, the managers have a lot on their plates with coaching players, managing games at the weekend, organising fundraising events, attending the monthly meetings to keep the club running plus more. Being the club DJFL secretary is not a very difficult job and would even be easier spread amongst a few people.

Please do not hesitate to contact Julian or Viv to discuss in further detail because as I said at the start of this letter from next year there won’t be any teams registered for our players to play in the following season, we all don’t want that!

We would like to take this opportunity to give Viv a huge THANK YOU for all her hard work behind the scenes in helping keep Ashbourne Aztecs running.

We look forward to hearing from you and thank you all for your continued support of Ashboune Aztecs.

All the best,

Mark Wood

P.S. Managers can you please make sure all parents are informed about this. Thank you.
